Tonight, Belton Tiger Basketball faced a strong Waco High team at home and found a way to pull out a win. The Tigers pressure system, full court trapping style, was in full effect from the very tipoff as they forced multiple quick early turnovers that led to a hot shooting start. Tigers went up by as much as 22 points but the Lions roared back to keep the game interesting with their volume 3’s.

The Tigers were led offensively by Seniors – Dontori Lott (17pts) and Kiron Griffin Jr. (15pts) and had some much needed help from fellow Senior – Elijah Eddings (11pts) and Freshman – Kayden Downs (11pts). The team’s hot start was ignited by their pressure defense and those flames were fanned by some great 3pt shooting. The Tigers made 7/11 3 point shots in the 1st half and finished the game making 10/16.

Also contributing to the Tigers 71 point outburst was Jordan Ellis (9pts), Jarian Kerley (7pts), and some clutch Free Throwing shooting from Kyle O’Banon. All in all the entire Tiger Basketball Program rounded out an excellent season opener for the 2017-2018 season as they swept the Waco High Lions tonight.

The Tigers start the season 1-0 and look forward to building off of its hot start Monday night versus University High School at 6:30P at Belton High School.
