Tonight, Belton Tiger Freshman Basketball faced Waco High at home and competed and pressured itself to a lopsided victory (84-32). The Tigers jumped on the Lions with their aggressive and physical defense and never allowed the Lions of Waco High to ever get close.
Offensively, the Tigers were led by Benjamin Jones who had a game high of 22 points. His aggressiveness on the offensive glass really set the tone for what later became a flurry of steals and long rebounds that led to easy baskets.
Also contributing to the Tigers was Diego Santana, transfer student from Puerto Rico, who’s smooth movements carved through defenses to chip in with 15 points. Jason Bonnet (10 pts), Brayden Walker (9 pts.), Michael Davis (9 pts.), Chase Rinehart (8 pts.), Kadence Clayton (7 pts.), and Sean Rojas (4 pts.) all rounded out the excellent freshman season opener.
The Tigers start the season 1-0 and look forward to building off of its hot start Monday night versus University High School at 5:00P at Belton High School.
