8th grade A team
Game one of the tournament was a face off with Jarrell 8A on Friday night, where the tigers tested their team chemistry. Ayanna Jones and Megan Shelburne made 80% of their free throws. Despite their rough start in the first 2 quarters, the tigers found their rhythm in the fourth. Catching up by quite a deficit, it was not enough to gain a win in the first game.
Game two the tigers were up against Lorena 8A. The tigers found themselves not up for the match on Saturday morning, struggling to play offense or defense. The second loss of the tournament led them to play South Belton in the third and final game of the weekend.
Game 3 was enough to lift Lake Belton’s spirits by sealing their one and only win against South.
Game one for seventh grade was also against Jarrell to start off the weekend competition. The tigers had good teamwork and chemistry, but lacked defensive aggression in the first half. The third quarter showed potential in a come back, but the tigers were unable to keep that energy through the 4th quarter, resulting in a loss.
Game two was a heartbreaker against North Belton, with a close match up. Leading the first half of the game, Lake had confidence in their abilities to beat North. However, in the fourth quarter, North came out on top by one point.
Game 3 was a match up with Travis 7A, allowing Lake to slow down and play our game to improve our defense. An easy 4 quarter victory put the tigers feeling excited for the season to come.
The Lake Belton tigers have a bye this week, and will open the season against North Belton on November 30th at home.
