The NBMS girls basketball teams traveled to Lake Belton on Thursday, Nov. 30. Here are the results.

The  7B fell short with a loss 12-20 to LBMS.   Layloni Watson picked up her game by scoring four points in the half along side Emily Evatt with two points. Raven Dupree followed up with scoring of her own in the second half with four points and post Makenzie Batey with two. North pulled within two points to end the 3rd quarter but came up short in the 4th with a run by Lake. The North Belton Lady Tigers look to keep improving working toward their first win.


NBMS 7th Grade A won 38-18 against Lake Belton Middle School.
NBMS seized an early lead with a 16-point first quarter, eventually achieving a 22-4 lead by halftime.
Sydni Cartwright led the charge for NBMS offense, scoring 16 points, with 10 points during the first period. She also contributed four rebounds and 10 steals.
Also chipping in for NBMS were Alina Tavernier (8 points, 3 rebounds), Hannah Jensen (6 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals), Macee Bradford (2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals), and Shelby Pusey (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal).
NBMS finished the game with 25 rebounds (17 offensive / 8 defensive) and 23 steals.


The 8B team also came away with a win against Lake Belton, 22-16.  North started off the first quarter scoring a quick six points to Lake’s one point. Ashland Reyes scored all three baskets for North in the first quarter. North played their best quarter of the game in the second quarter, putting up 10 points. Again, Lake only scored one point. Krislynn Munoz made both of her free throws and added a basket. Reyes added another basket, as well as Kennedy Pratt and Morgan McShannon. North went into half time leading 16-2. In the third quarter, Lake came out ready to play and put up 9 points. North struggled offensively and they were only able to put up two points, by Hannah Degen. The fourth quarter was evenly matched by both teams, with each team scoring four points a piece. Adriana Cabiness and Reyes both made a basket to bring the final score to 22-16.


North Belton’s 8A went head to head against Lake Belton and finished with a 43-15 victory. North came out of the gate finding multiple scoring opportunities for four different Lady Tigers. McKenna Maddux led all scorers in the first quarter with seven of her 13 total points. Keira Campbell chipped in five of her team high 14 points. Aniah Hall dropped in two baskets and MyKaela Johnston added a free throw. North led after the first quarter, 17-0. Second quarter was more defensive, as North was only able to score three more points before the half. Hall found another post score and Campbell added a free throw. North led at halftime 20-4. North would extend their lead out of the half with Hall and Campbell each adding four points and Maddux adding a fast break layup. North would lead 30-6 after three quarters. Lake found themselves in foul trouble in the fourth and North would capitalize, sinking 7-11 free throws in the quarter. In addition to the free throws, Hall added another basket and Maddux chipped in four more points to give North the victory, 43-15.
Leading scorer was Keira Campbell with 14 points (8-12 FT). McKenna Maddux followed closely with 13 points (1-3 FT) and Aniah Hall was right behind with 12 points. Sterling Weadock added three points (3-4 FT) and MyKaela Johnston finished with 1 point (1-4 FT). North Belton finished the night shooting 42% from the FT line (13-31). Defensively, Maddux, Johnston, Jennie Bonnett and Seleilah Jackson played tough defense on the perimeter, forcing multiple turnovers. Hall, Campbell and Weadock played strong post defense resulting in numerous blocks and defensive rebounds. The win pushed North to a 5-0 record (2-0 in district).
