Belton 9th 57 – Leander 9th 47
The men’s Freshman Basketball Team traveled to Leander tonight to face the Lions in a non district match up. The Tigers had a slow start, leading to a slow, rough half. At halftime, Lions led (23-22). Belton decided to show up the second half with a new mentality and high level of intensity, immediately going on a 10 point run. This carried them to a victory of 57-47 over the Lions. The Tigers had four players score 10 or more points: Reid Pulliam (17), Hunter Teplansky (15), Ruben Jimenez (11), Benjamin Jones (10). This win puts the Tigers at 9-1, leading into their first district game against Killeen High School.

Belton JV 58 – Leander JV 62
The boys JV basketball team traveled to Leander for a non district meeting. The game went back and forth, but in the end the Lions got the best of the Tigers as they fell short 62-58. The Tigers led 21-15 after the first and 34-30 after the second. In the third quarter they were outscored 15-13 which led to a 45-45 ball game heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams traded scores until the very end. Tyson Pine led all players with 21 points, while Tre Berry came off the bench with 11 points. Hayden Lloyd, DE’Mante Smith, and Hayden Drake each had 6 points a piece. As the Tigers fell to 5-5 on the season, they have a chance to build together and create a cohesive unit as late additions have joined the team. The opportunity comes Thursday and Saturday as they will compete in the Pflugerville Holiday Classic before heading into their first district game against Killeen High School.
