Boys Varsity Powerlifting · Tradition Stays Strong at Midway


The Belton Boys Powerlifting teams went to Midway this past Thursday and exceed expectations. Belton claimed 1st place as a team in total points with 52 points earned. Lifters who finished in the top 5 of their weight class are listed below:

Tristian Pierce- lifted in the 114-weight class, he squatted 210 lbs, benched pressed 115 lbs, and deadlifted 220 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 1st in the Midway Invitational.

Max Castelli- lifted in the 123-weight class, he squatted 280 lbs, benched pressed 160 lbs, and deadlifted 325 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 2nd in the Midway Invitational.

Brent Wheeler– lifted in the 132-weight class, he squatted 340 lbs, benched pressed 180 lbs, and deadlifted 325 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 1st in the Midway Invitational.

Christian Castillo- lifted in the 148-weight class, he squatted 390 lbs, benched pressed 215 lbs, and deadlifted 380 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 1st in the Midway Invitational. Castillo was also awarded most outstanding lifter in the lightweight division.

Cameron Parker- lifted in the 148-weight class, he squatted 360 lbs, benched pressed 220 lbs, and deadlifted 350 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 3rd in the Midway Invitational.

Devyn Raper- lifted in the 165-weight class, he squatted 360 lbs, benched pressed 255 lbs, and deadlifted 400 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 5th in the Midway Invitational.

Devin Martinez- lifted in the 220-weight class, he squatted 440 lbs, benched pressed 275 lbs, and deadlifted 400 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 2nd in the Midway Invitational.

Jawaun Howard- lifted in the 220-weight class, he squatted 410 lbs, benched pressed 315 lbs, and deadlifted 410 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 3rd in the Midway Invitational.

Arturo Jaimes- lifted in the 242-weight class, he squatted 560 lbs, benched pressed 315 lbs, and deadlifted 600 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 1st in the Midway Invitational.

Sidney Sherwood- lifted in the 275-weight class, he squatted 515 lbs, benched pressed 350 lbs, and deadlifted 420 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 1st in the Midway Invitational.

Kyle Gascon- lifted in the 123-weight class, he squatted 295 lbs, benched pressed 125 lbs, and deadlifted 260 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 3rd in the Midway Invitational.

Nathan Hunt- lifted in the 132-weight class, he squatted 220 lbs, benched pressed 140 lbs, and deadlifted 275 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 4th in the Midway Invitational.

Patrick Frazho- lifted in the 148-weight class, he squatted 365 lbs, benched pressed 185 lbs, and deadlifted 380 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 2nd in the Midway Invitational.

Gerald Fountain- lifted in the 148-weight class, he squatted 225 lbs, benched pressed 155 lbs, and deadlifted 305 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 4th in the Midway Invitational.

Keaton Kaulfus- lifted in the 181-weight class, he squatted 345 lbs, benched pressed 225 lbs, and deadlifted 320 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 4th in the Midway Invitational.

Devon Taplin- lifted in the 220-weight class, he squatted 430 lbs, benched pressed 275 lbs, and deadlifted 420 lbs. He totaled enough weight to place 2nd in the Midway Invitational.

The Tigers will be back under the bar of competition January 20, 2018 at home (9th Grade Center). Lifting will begin at 8 am.
