The Belton Tigers hosted the Killeen Shoemaker Grey Wolves on Saturday afternoon at Belton High School.
The game was suspended due to the lightning and rain in the bottom of the fourth inning on Friday night. The game continued at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Shoemaker got a single from Burt Cruz and a bases-clearing double by catcher Kyle Figueroa in the top of the fifth inning, but could not put runners on in the final two innings.
Hunter Teplansky’s bases-loaded walk-off single in the bottom of the seven capped off a three-run rally in a 5-4 Belton win.
The Tigers improved to 7-3 in the District 8-6A race and 11-10-3 overall.
Belton picked up two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Shawn Butler singled and Drew Cook walked to set up Teplansky’s two-run single to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
With the Tigers down 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Aaron Krueger singled and Tannor Fischer doubled. Reese Perry’s sacrifice fly and Butler’s RBI double tied the game at 4-4. With the bases loaded, Teplansky singled in Butler to complete the series sweep over the Grey Wolves.
Teplansky led the Tigers with two hits and three RBI. Krueger and Perry each had two hits.
Perry threw four innings on Friday night, having allowed two hits and struck out on. Dylan Blomquist pitched three innings for the win, allowed four runs on four hits, walked one and struck out five.
Alex Roche pitched six innings, allowed two unearned runs on four hits, walked four and struck out four. Cruz pitched one-thirds inning, having allowed three runs on three hits in the loss. Jesus Encarnacion, who did not record an out on Tuesday, gave up two walks and the game-winning hit in one-thirds inning.
Belton will start their home-and-home series with Ellison at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
