Belton JV red football team takes a loss on the road in Copperas Cove for their second away game. Belton had 26 points on the night while Copperas Cove had 41 points. Both rushing attacks took their toll on a hard fought night in the trenches.
Offensively Belton had 393 yards total offense, 283 yards rushing, 115 yards passing, and 26 points on the night. Josiah Thomas had one touchdown toss with 115 yards passing. Two rushing attacks tonight: Daylen Thomas had 146 yards rushing with a touchdown and Angel Villalobos had 137 yards rushing also with a touchdown. Receiving stats are as followed: Luke Bramlett 40 yards receiving and 1 touchdown grab. Reid Pulliam had 72 yards receiving on the night. Paving the way tonight up front were the following offensive lineman: Wyatt Storey, Jonathan Salinas, Mathew Sierras, Garrett Schoolcraft, Jacob Sinkwich, Randy Schoolcraft, Casey Brewer, Jesus Rivas, and Charles Wilson.
The Tiger defense struggled to contain the Cove offense all night. Ryan Harris led the defense with 3 tackles for losses. Nic Cipolla helped change the momentum in the 3rd quarter with a crucial interception. The Tiger defense made several stops in the 2nd half to pull within 8 points of Cove, but it the end the Bulldog offense was a little too much. Cove scored 14 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to finish off the Tigers. Other defensive standouts were: Trenton Curry, Logan Turner, Jeremiah Wade, Luis Flores, Chris Barrett, Amiere Steward and Coleman Naegle.
