The North Belton volleyball teams traveled to Travis Science Academy to take on the Lady Mustangs and walked away victorious with all four teams completing a clean sweep. Since Travis only has one competition gym, all four teams played consecutively. 7B started the night off with a two game win with the final scores of 25-18 and 25-5. In the first set, neither team could get off to a hot start but North held the slim lead at 9-6. Shelby Shultz served four in a row to push the lead to 14-8. Travis would trim the lead down a little and trailed 16-21 before Casey Shultz added three serves to give North game point at 24-16. North would break Travis’ short streak to end the game at 25-18. The second game was all North as all five servers went on a streak of at least three. Leading 9-4, Trinaty Pearson served six in a row to jump ahead to 16-4. A quick side out gave C Shultz the serve again and she would serve out the game with eight in a row. The final for the second set was 25-5.
8B followed 7B with the second two game sweep with the scores of 25-12 and 25-7. The first set started a little shaky as North and Travis would swap the lead the first rotation until North grabbed the early 9-8 advantage. North would start to separate and found themselves ahead 17-12 when Danica Bingham stepped up to serve and would go on a seven point streak to end the game at 25-12. In the second set, Reagan Furney started the game off with six in a row before Travis broke the serve. A quick side out gave Layloni Watson the ball and she would tack on four more serves to extend North’s lead to 11-1. North would continue to shut down Travis’ offense and keep the lead at 16-6 before Kaitlyn Jones would serve six in a row to push North ahead at 22-6. North would break Travis’ ensuing serve and finish the game with the final 25-7.
7A took to the court looking to continue the streak and would capitalize with the two game victory, 25-7 and 25-9. In the first set, North would jump ahead early with Kaliece Cain’s three serve streak. A quick side out gave Charlee Maddux the serve and she would go on a tear with seven in a row to give North the comfortable 11-1 lead. North would side out Travis’ next two serves and gave Macey Weber the ball with the 16-4 lead. Weber would serve four in a row to push the lead to 20-4. Travis would snag three quick points before North’s Landyn Johnson served the remainder of the points and gave North the first win, 25-7. The second set started with Travis jumping ahead early, 4-1. North would tie the game at 6-6 and again at 9-9 before Weber would go on a serving display by serving the remaining 15 points. North would win the second set, 25-9.
8A showed no rust as they had to wait for the prior three matches to complete before they could end the night on their two game sweep with the final scores of 25-11 and 25-11. The first set started off competitive with Travis jumping ahead early 4-2 but Madison Lux would answer right back to give North the 5-4 lead. With ties at 6-6 and 9-9, neither team could gain an advantage until Sydni Cartwright gave North the 13-9 lead with four quality serves. From there, North would continue to widen the gap with Emily Evatt serving four in a row and Raylee Poff followed with five in a row. North would jump out to a 23-10 lead. A quick side out gave North the serve at game point and Lux would finish the first set, 25-11. The second set was all North from the start as they would jump ahead early at 5-2 and push the lead further at 14-6. North was able to completely shut down Travis’ offensive attacks as they only had one serving streak greater than a single serve. North would run away with the second set 25-11. Offensively, Lux led the team with four kills. Macee Bradford added three kills and led the team with four blocks. Multiple servers added aces to their totals and defensively, Paige Roehl and Madison Combest had great saves that set up our hitters.
