Girls 8th Grade Basketball SB · South at North: Cross Town Rivalry

The 8th Grade B Lady Tigers took on a tough North Belton team last night. The tigers were leading at half time, but North’s tough defense gave North the win in the end. Mya, Kirian, Anastacia, Reanna, Alicia, and Sydney all scored. The entire team hustled, led by Reanna West. They ladies gave it everything that they had and we are so proud of their effort. We look forward to the growth as they come together as a team.

South Belton 8th A team played a really intense game that was an all-time classic, going down to the very last second. South started off strong on defense that was led by Leilah Maldonado and Amaris Hobson that carried through the whole game. The offense gave South a jump with Leilah Maldonado, McKenna Morrow, and Rosaline Leibowitz combining for 6 points. The second quarter, South played awesome on offense with Leilah Maldonado, Trinity Espitia, and Krista Haake combining for 5 points and some stellar defense making every shot uncomfortable for North. The ladies played a great first half giving South a 11-9 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, South struggled against North Belton’s adjustment on defense and turned the ball over many times which gave North the lead after the third. In the fourth quarter the intensity went to an eleven. Both teams were fighting, giving it everything they had to try to take the lead. Rosaline Leibowitz, Krista Haake gave South a push to put them down by 3. With two minutes left in the fourth, Trinity Espitia came clutch and made a 3 pointer to tie the game. The girls fought hard in the last minute of the game and got a put back to take the lead 20-18. North Belton had some free throws at the end and made one out of two. With 6 seconds on the clock, South was inbounding the ball and North played great defense and caused a loose ball. South fought for ball to run out the clock and took the win 20-19. It was a great, intense game and we are so proud of how our ladies performed and gave everything that they had on the court. We will be traveling to Travis Middle School next Thursday at 6pm. Come out and support us as we look to get another win. GO SOUTH!!!!!!
