Belton JV 56 Harker Heights JV 69
Tonight, the JV Boys basketball team faced Harker Heights for their first district game of the year. From the start, Belton took control over the game. They finished the first quarter up by 9, and held the lead at the end of the half (36-27). In the beginning of the second half, Belton struggled to break the Knights press, allowing them to take the lead. Ultimately, the Tigers fell to Heights (56-69). Belton’s lead scorer was Austin Aggers with 15 points. Also bringing in points: Luke Bramlett (13) and De’mante Smith (11). This puts the Tigers at 5-3 overall for the season.

Belton traveled to Harker Heights for the district opener. Freshman red opened the game on a 10 to 2 run but trailed 15-12 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was back and forth with the Tigers trailing 32-31 at the half. The third quarter was much the same with both teams trading leads. The Knights leading 44-42 at the end of three. The Tigers grabbed an early lead in the 4th quarter but with ten seconds left the knights hit a eight footer to take the lead 59-58 with 11 seconds. Trent West quickly inbounded the ball to Tyler Tingle who then pitched it ahead to Conner Whitman who shot a ten footer with three seconds left. The ball clanked off the back of the rim and Seth Morgan got the rebound and hit the buzzer beater as time expired.
Leading Scorer was Seth Morgan with 22 points.
The Freshman Red will travel to Hutto Thursday for a Tournament.
