Girls 7th Grade Basketball NB, Girls 8th Grade Basketball NB · NBMS Girl’s Basketball takes on LBMS


North Belton Girl’s Basketball played an awesome 3 out of 4 win games against Lake. The night began with 7B taking home court and scored within the first minute. Successful steals and lay-ups by North gave them a lead of 14-0 at half-time. Angie DeLeon was unstoppable as she took control of the court and gave her team a lead on the board. Klesha Middleton had her first points scored for the season. Hailey Reeder and Shelby Shultz were aggressive in defense. Final score was 28-2.

7th Grade A Team won against Lake Belton 33 to 5 last night. With a dominating offense, North outscored Lake in all quarters. Macey Weber were led all scorers with nineteen points. Weber also led in rebounds along with Charlee Maddux with three apiece. Kaleice Cain, Ella Wheeless, Leila Omisola, and Charlee Maddux added to the twenty- eight-point win. They will continue to compete in the Georgetown tournament on Saturday.

8B started the night off to a rough start and couldn’t climb back as they fell to Lake Belton, 9-19. In the first quarter, Raven Dupree gave North the only point with a free throw and Lake would jump out to a 5-1 lead. North’s defense held Lake scoreless in the second quarter, but the offense couldn’t capitalize as Dupree was the lone scorer with a basket. North trailed at half, 3-5. Out of the half, North continued to struggle finding the basket but Mary Hayes managed to score two post shots. North trailed after three, 7-11. In the fourth, Madison Combest was able to steal and score on a breakaway layup, but North could not stop Lakes momentum and they would run away to a 9-19 final.
8A took to the court next and emerged victorious with a 34-25 final. In the first quarter, North would find their rhythm offensively as five players managed to find the basket. Defensively, North gave Lake multiple free throw opportunities with silly fouls and Lake would sink five of their eight opportunities. North still held the lead, 12-7 after the first. North’s defensive stiffened up in the second and held Lake to just two points. Offensively, North would continue to push the lead and found themselves ahead 20-9 at the half. Lake would trim the lead in the third by outscoring North 8-6, but that nine point deficit remained throughout the rest of the game with the 34-25 final. Leading scorer was Madison Lux with nine points (1-4 FT). Danica Bingham followed with eight points. Sydni Cartwright and Alina Tavernier both scored six points. Reagan Furney added three points and Layloni Watson scored two points.
NBMS Girl’s will travel to Georgetown on Saturday 12.8.18 for the Holiday Hoops Tournament. Thursday 12.13.18, North will travel to Cove Lee. Thank you for supporting Girl’s Athletics.
