On Thursday, January 17, 2019, the SBMS Lady Tigers basketball teams faced Cove Lee at home. After working hard in practice all week, learning a new defense and new offensive plays, the 7th grade B team came out ready to play hard, and that’s just what they did. Playing a man-to-man offense most of the game, the Lady Tigers kept the pressure on and forced Cove to turn the ball over several times. Despite our good, sharp passes on offense, we struggled to run an offensive play against Lee’s defense. The Lady Tigers also struggled to rebound the ball on both sides of the court. Overall, the Lady Tigers played well as a team and fought hard until the last buzzer, but ultimately lost the game only 9-10. Reyna Trevino had 4 points, Delaney Bouteller had 3 points, and Lilyin Smith-Schmucker had 2 points. All of the girls played great and should be proud of their efforts. In the 7th A game the Lady Tigers were up against aggressive and athletic team. This Cove Lee team has only lost to Midway who is a powerhouse. We played tough defense and tried to execute our offense but seems we could not not find a rhythm to put points on the board. We will take this as a learning experience to get us ready for Bonham. We look forward to playing Bonham here at South Belton next Thursday, January 24. GO LADY TIGERS!!!
