Last night the Lake Belton Lady Tiger track team traveled to Tiger Stadium to compete in their first track meet of the season! The Little Red Relays was a great first meet and way to kick off the season. Overall the Lady Tigers learned a lot attending their first meet, and are eager to continue to grow over the season.
The 7th grade girls placed 6th overall, scoring a total of 33.5 point for the night. The field events kicked off the day at 4pm, and were a good start. Many girls having never competed in track before experienced something new and did a great job trying! In long jump, Mahoganie Rainge took 1st place, jumping a distance of 14ft. 6in. A great jump, for a first meet!!! In high jump Scarlett Finch took 5th place overall, clearing a height of 4ft. 2inches. That closed out all the events that we placed in for field events in the 7th grade group. We had several girls who came out to compete in the open running events! Starting with the 100M dash, Mahoganie Rainge came in second with a hard fought run. Her time was 14.09, just milliseconds behind the first place runner! Faith Manning came to put in work in the 200M dash, bringing home 5th place with a time of 31.11 seconds. The 400M dash was a great race with Aaliyah Martinez taking 5th place with a time of 1:12. Austin Inman came in with a great race in the 1600M run at 4th place overall with a time of 6:30. Last but not least the relays had a great night. The 4X100 team- Caroline Myron, Elizabeth Chamberlain, Angelina Ochoa, Mahoganie Rainge- came in 6th place with team time of 57.95. The mile relay team also placed, coming in at 4th with a team time of 5:03 (Angelina Ochoa, Aaliyah Martinez, Yuliana Reyes, Sirena Sauceda). The 8th grade team fought hard all night long, bringing home 6th place overall as well, with 44 points. Field events ran through quickly, as the day moved along. In long jump Jalynn Calloway brought home 4th place with a jump of 13ft 6.5in. A great night for Calloway as she also brought home 2nd place in high jump, clearing 4ft 4in. That closed out the field events for Lake Belton 8th grade girls, as the open running events began. Rene’jah Jackson brought some heat to the 200M dash coming in 3rd place overall with a time of 29.05. Autumn Holman ran through smooth on the 300M hurdles, bringing home 4th place overall with a time of 56.79. All relays placed for a solid night of running, starting with the 4×100 coming in 4th place with a team time of 54.55 (Aneisa Starks, Kaylee Rodriguez, Rene’jah Jackson, Autumn Holman). The 4×200 team crushed it at 3rd place with a team time of 1:59 (Shaune Little, Jalynn Calloway, Olivia Summers).
