Esperanza Moreno had two hits and three RBIs and McKayla Seeliger scored three times, as the Belton Lady Tigers JV squad upended the Ellison Lady Eagles JV squad 13-2 in three-plus innings.
The game was called with two outs in the top of the fourth inning due to time limit.
Stormie Boone drew a bases-loaded walk to start the scoring. Mia Garza was hit by a pitch to force in the second run. Azaelea Williams’ infield single scored the third run, Hazel Blair was hit to force in the fourth run, and Moreno walked to put Belton at the five-run limit for the inning.
Tristyn Barton got the start in the circle for the Lady Tigers and allowed just two walks in the first two innings.
Belton scored two runs in the second inning. Skylar Jarnagin scored on a passed ball and Seeliger scored on a sacrifice fly by Garza to give Belton a 7-0 lead.
The Lady Tigers escalated to lead to 12-0. Moreno hit a two-run double, and Jarnagin’s dropped third strike scored Moreno after a stolen base. Graze’s fielder’s choice and Jenna Montgomery’s pinch-hit single scored Brooke Genera. Mia Smith scored on Moreno’s double.
Belton needed just four hits, 10 walks and three hit batters, to do their damage, while they left six on base.
Barton picked up the win in the circle, as she pitched three innings, allowed two unearned runs on three hits, walked two and struck out two.
Belton JV will take on Waco High JV at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
