North Belton traveled into Bearcat territory on Thursday September 5th. NBMS was prepared to take the court and anxious to play. North took the night and sweeps Lamar with all four teams bringing wins home. 8A 25-6, 25-10 and 8B 25-12, 25-14. 7A 25-9, 25-16 and 7B 25-20, 25-12.
8A and 8B continued their dominance with serves. Key night servers were Kaleice Cain, Angie DeLeon, Avery Jones, and Shelby Shultz. Offensively North was on fire as Lamar struggled to return a serve. North 8A and 8B are 2-0.
After 7A’s tough loss last week, North came out strong. The girls had strong serving and solid passing that helped them leave victorious. North 7A won in two sets, 25-9 and 25-16. Leading server of the night was Aubrey Yeager with 15 serves. Emma Jensen contributed six, Hannah Kasner contributed 4, MyKenna Johnston, Chelsie Miller and Aneia Stallings all contributed two. Trista Sheka, Kendall Cartwright and Natalia Guillen played a key part in the game defensively.
The 7th grade B team defeated Lamar in two straight sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-12. In set one, North got off to a slow start with only a two point lead after a full rotation 9-7. Then they finally started to break away through the second rotation with a 24-14 lead. Lamar then scored 6 straight points until North finally broke their serve to win the set. Kaegan Huddleston scored 6 service points followed Maddison Ruiz with 4. In the second set, North got out to a 4 point lead after one rotation 13-9, then Ruiz was on fire her second time to serve by scoring 9 straight service points to end the set. She had a total of 13 in the second set alone. Heavenly Middleton-Reed and Elle Nilsson both played well at the net and Brianna Sutterfield and Taylor Love both made some good defensive plays. Emmi Lloyd and Brinley Agee both did a good job at the setter position. The 7th B team is now 2-0 on the season.
