The Lake Belton Lady Tigers Volleyball Team participated in the Belton Classic Volleyball Tournament this past weekend (Oct 4&5), and played some exciting volleyball.
7th grade B team had a rough weekend losing out in double elimination. Friday night they played against Copperas Cove, and faced a tough loss. They worked hard, with several girls seeing some success in serving. Saturday morning they played against S.C. Lee, facing yet another loss. Player of the weekend was Nevaeh Rodriguez for improvement in serving!
The 7th grade A Team won second place overall in the tournament, losing in the championship game, to the Crawford Pirates. LBMS A team finished the tournament with a 2-1 record and improved team play and teamwork. Highlights, were great serving from Kali Mayberry, Natalie Maldonado, and Aniyah Victorian. Gabby Jones hustled all over the court and had some impressive kills during the the tournament. Elizabeth Marschall and Ryley Litchfield did a great job attacking and blocking at the net. Overall, it was a good tournament with lots of excitment.
8th grade B team worked hard over the weekend but unfortunately lost out of the tournament early as well. They faced Copperas Cove on Friday night, and fought hard, keeping the games close, but Cove came out on top. Lake worked hard on their defense but Cove found their weakness in serve receive. Saturday morning they faced S.C. Lee, and yet again struggled with that early morning game to really get the momentum going. Player of the weekend was Yuliana Reyes for amazing hustle and fantastic passing.
8th grade A team had a hard fought weekend as well, taking on Salado Friday night. Salado came ready to play, and Lake struggled to catch up. Serve receive and communication were lacking as Lake couldn’t keep up with Salado’s serving. Salado aced through the first set, and kept that momentum moving into the second set. Lake was down and there was no rallying as Salado swept them for the win. Lake then faced North Belton for the third time in the season on Saturday morning. North was on their toes, but Lake was ready to battle. Moving their feet and touching every ball, Lake worked to make North struggle. North had several solid servers who ran away with the game. North swept Lake for the victory and went on for the day. Player of the weekend was Daniella Garcia for her consistent hustle and team energy.
