North Belton Tigers Volleyball wrapped up the season with a sweep over Travis M.S. on Thursday. North Belton celebrated the night with a Pink Out game, Big Sister/Little Sister, and a family potluck. The stand was packed, the crowd was loud, and our athletes worked hard to end the season with a 4 team win against Travis M.S. The season ended with 8A 25-16, 25-20, 15-4. 8B 25-9, 25-8, 15-13. 7A 25-10, 25-11, 15-7. 7B 18-25, 25-22, 25-16.
8A ended the evening with defeating Travis. The first set began with a Travis service error followed by service five points awarded by Kaleice Cain. Score at 7-1 forced Travis to take an early timeout. North found the momentum and took a lead with on point sets by Tristan Oliphant and timed hits from Adara Uceda, Landyn Johnston, and AnnaKate Weiters. Charlee Maddux had four kills and Chandler Stahl had five kills. Ginny Rosenbaum, Mady Updyke each had three digs, and Meili Mason had five. The second set began with North struggling to execute a play trailing 0-5, Angie DeLeon added five points 5-9. Tides turned with Chandler Stahl’s serves as she gave North their first lead, 15-13. North went on to win the second set. The third and final set was finished with Adara Uceda’s seven point serves, 15-4.
8B came out on the court taking the lead early as Shelby Shultz put the first ten service points on the board. Victoria Shimabukuro had powerful hits which set the tone as North took the set 25-9. The second set began with began similar to the first as Shelby Shultz served un-returnable Ace’s which gave North the lead 7-0. Trinaty Pearson added eight service points 16-3. 8B takes the win 25-8. The final third set was played out in favor of North, 15-13.
North Belton 7A finished their season strong with a big win over Travis. North started out a little slow but was able to blow it open with several serving runs. North won the first set, 25-10. North jumped out to an early lead the second set. After several long serving runs North finished the game, 25-11. Leading servers of the night were Emma Jensen with 13. Trista Sheka with six, Aneia Stallings and Aubrey Yeager both with five, Chelsie Miller with four, and Hannah Kasner and MyKenna Johnston both with three. (K.B.)
The 7th grade B team defeated Travis two sets 25-11 and 25-15. The 7B team ended their season with a 7-1 district record and a 12-2 overall record. In the first set, Elle Nilsson dominated in serving points with 11. Kaegan Huddleston added 3 service points and Maddison Ruiz, Heavenly Middleton-Reed, and Riley Clawson each added 1. In set two, Emmi Lloyd lead the team in serving points with 7 points, followed by Nilsson with 4 points and Brinley Agee with 2 points. In the developmental game, North lost 11-15. Clawson lead in service points with 2 followed by Ruiz and Agee with 1 point each. The 7B team girls did an awesome job this year and showed lots of improvement. (R.R.)
