The Lady Tiger Powerlifting Team competed in the Midway Powerlifting Invitational on Thursday, January 9, 2020 and came away from the contest with an impressive win. This year’s team is comprised of a few experienced veterans and a lot of inexperienced youth, so there were quite a few lessons learned on Thursday night. There is much to be excited about with this year’s team though, as the veterans showed great leadership and grit while the young lifters proved to be very coachable at critical times in the meet and never gave up.
There were some outstanding performances in the meet that deserve recognition. Veterans Gracie Martone (97), Diamond Davis (123), Kyndall Carroll (165), Rylee Pratt (181), Bethany Sherwood (220), and Marryah Smith McCarthy (259) set the gold standard by winning their respective weight classes. Rookies Raquelle Chandarlis (123) and Stephanny Ruiz Sabril (132) were impressive with second place showings, while veterans Kassondra Bengston (132) Sadie Rhoder (181) also got second in their weight classes. Newcomer Bryce Bourland (198) also had a good night by posting a third place finish.
Complete results from the Midway meet can be found on the THSWPA website. The Lady Tigers will compete again at home on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Belton Powerlifting Meet. Please come out and support these ladies in what is always an extremely competitive and challenging meet!
