JV Red played only one game on Friday against the La Vega Pirates at Tiger Field. Although they were able to secure the win 1-0 from a 20-yard free kick by #18 Jillian McCue, Coach Cruz was not happy with the level of play the Tigers brought to the field.
“We let them control too much of the game,” Cruz said. “We didn’t connect passes like I wanted or keep possession like I expected. We are a young team and today showed that.”
The second of the tournament for the Lady Tigers gave them a feisty College Station team which came off some pretty dominating wins earlier in the day. The Tigers were able to maintain possession most of the game and seal their second win of the tournament 1-0.
The final game of the tournament for our JV Red team gave them a match up against A&M Consolidated. The Lady Tigers came out blazing this game giving themselves multiple opportunities for goals. In the end it was a freshmen affair, all three goals came from the freshmen, Samatha Grimaldo, Macee Bradford, and America Villegas. These goals helped to give the JV Red team an undefeated tournament run. Final score for this game was 3-0.
The JV White team played a tough Cedar Park B team in their first game at South Belton Middle School. Although the tigers did what they could they were no match for the Cedar Park B team and lost 5-0. The Belton goalie Madison Layton had an amazing game with 18 stops.
The second game on Friday gave the Lady Tigers a matchup against the La Vega B team. The Tigers were able to maintain possession and ultimately beat the Pirates 5-0.

“This game gave the girls some confidence and energy,” Coach Dickerson said, ” I am happy to have seen the girls bring some things to the game in which we have specifically practiced on. We still have a lot of work to do. But I am proud of the girls for getting a decisive win.”
The one game came early for the JV White team at 7:00 am. The Tigers played Stony Point in some less than favorable conditions. The weather and early morning seemed to cause issue for the Tigers along with pressure Stony Point applied on the defense. Stony Point acquired the win over the Tigers 2-0. The goalie Madison Layton was able to get 7 stops against Stony Point.
