Nothing came easy for the Lady Tigers at the Belton Powerlifting Meet on Saturday at the “9,” but that just made the result that much more satisfying. The ladies had to deal with some unexpected adversity and absences in preparation for the annual home meet, but they took the “next lifter up” mentality and ran with it all the way to first place. The team worked extremely hard in preparation for the meet it showed in everything they did on Saturday.
Three lifters led the way for the Lady Tigers with first place finishes in their respective weight classes. Veteran lifter Gracie Martone won the 97 lb. division with a total of 485 lbs. Team captain Rylee Pratt won the 181 lb. weight class with a total of 770 lbs. Veteran Bethany Sherwood won the 220 lb. weight class with a combined total of 830 lbs. Each of these lifters translated tremendous individual weeks of practice into tangible results against tough competition.
Outstanding performances on Saturday also included second place finishes by team captain Kyndall Carroll (165), Bryce Bourland (198), and Marryah Smith McCarthy (259). Other lifters who scored or blocked points for the Lady Tigers included Alyssa Diaz (114), Selena Giron (114), Lya Gascon (105), Angel Urutia (105), Stephanny Ruiz (132), and Kassondra Bengston (132). The Lady Tigers will compete again next Saturday at the Georgetown Powerlifting Meet. Please come out and support our outstanding lifters!
