The Lady Tiger Powerlifting team has established a tremendous and well deserved reputation over the last decade, but every athlete knows that you are only measured by your last performance. Several Lady Tiger lifters recently had to put that theory to the test. Last week the Lady Tigers scheduled an appearance at the Salado Powerlifting Meet on Thursday, February 20 as a “last chance” opportunity for 10 lifters to either solidify or secure the opportunity to compete at the regional meet. Suffice it to say, the Lady Tiger lifters rose to the challenge. Not only did all 10 athletes qualify for Regionals, but nine girls medaled and they managed to win the meet as well. Four lifters who didn’t compete at Salado also qualified, bringing the total number of Lady Tiger lifters competing at Regionals to 14.
First place medalists at Salado included Stephanny Ruiz (132), Maya Jones (148), and Kyndall Carroll (165). Second place medalists included Raquelle Chandarlis (123), Kassondra Bengston (132), and Sadie Rhoder (181). Other medalists included Diamond Davis (114), Selena Giron (114), and Bryce Bourland (198).
The lifters who will be competing at the regional meet at Del Valle High School on March 7 are the following:
