Tigers News · Head Softball Coach is announced for Belton High

Belton High School is proud to announce our new Head Softball Coach Rachel Reekstin. She was born and raised in Orange County, California.  Rachel got her Bachelors in Psychology/Sociology and Master’s Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine.  She also pitched for the Concordia Eagles softball team for all four years while she obtained her degree. Rachel then went on to become a graduate assistant for their softball program.  After a short stint as pitching coach at Wellesley College in Boston, she was offered the head softball job at Concordia University in Austin, TX (2013-2019).  Rachel coached softball, taught several kinesiology and psychology courses plus ran NCAA compliance at Concordia TX for six years.  During that time, she got married to her husband Miguel and had their daughter Inez (2). They currently reside in Liberty Hill. She had a great run at Concordia but realized she had a passion for teaching as well as coaching, and wanted to take a shot at the High School level.  Elgin High School gave her the opportunity to coach volleyball and softball during the 2019-20 school year. Coach Reekstin also taught social emotional learning class and public speaking to all freshmen. She enjoyed every minute coaching and teaching at the high school level, and is excited to start her new role as Head Softball Coach at Belton High School.
