The Belton Tiger Freshmen Red Volleyball team hosted East View’s Freshman Red squad at Tiger Gym on Tuesday afternoon.

Belton battled adversity throughout the match and had a seven-point in the second game before a 13-3 run ended the hopes of extending the series to a third game.

The scores were 25-13 and 25-22.

Jacci Meyers served the opening point for Freshman Red before the Patriots put together a 9-1 run. Mallory Bankhead made a block to break serve and Ramsey Curran smashed a kill on the Patriots side of the court to keep Belton in the game. However, the Tigers could not gain the momentum to keep in the game late and dropped the first game by 12.

Both teams went on runs in the second game. With the Patriots leading 3-2, Belton went on a 4-2 run of their own. East View counterpunched with six straight points to a take 10-6 lead.

The Tigers put together an impressive 13-2 run, with Meyers picking up three aces to give Belton a 19-12 lead.

However, the Tigers were not able to fight off the aggressive attack of the Patriots, as their 13-3 run capped a wild second game and they took the match.
