Congratulations to Sophie Broom for being named this weeks Student Athlete of the Week. Sophie plays for the Belton Volleyball team, and she does high jump and runs hurdles during track season . Her favorite course is AP Psychology. When asked who her favorite teacher is, Sophie said “that’s hard (to decide) but I really liked my Spanish teacher, Ms. Reyes, from last year and my English teacher, Mrs. McCarty, from this year.” In her free time, Sophie likes to watch Criminal Minds on tv and her favorite singers are Taylor Swift, Adele, and SZA. To be successful in school, Sophie says “it is important to stay focused in school and the best way to do that is to take courses that you enjoy and not just that you feel you have to take for GPA purposes. The best way to be successful is to have a good balance between necessity and joy; for example, there are some classes you might not naturally be talented in or enjoy but in order to find motivation for those courses, you need to find classes that inspire you. These classes were psychology, volleyball, track, and math for me personally!” Thanks for your insight, Sophie, and congrats on winning this weeks award!
